Model, American Folk Figure. She was a photographer’s model who was the subject of thousands of pin-up pictures during the post-World War II years. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, she was a graduate of Peabody College and worked briefly as a teacher. Moving to California, she worked as a model and actress, and, in 1950, was spotted by photographer Jerry Tibbs who created her first pin-ups.
